Love the Rougamo, all congees, onion pancake, peanut sauce, snow peas, dumpling, pan fried dumpling, fresh soymilk, and mustard pork noodle soup. Between the Beef noodle soup & pork, I like the mustard pork noodle soup better but both are good! The cold clear noodle dish is very good as well - very fresh tasting! Staff is also very nice. (Unfortunately, don't have a ton of photos/good quality photos...focused on enjoying the meal lol) A Must Go! ”

“ Finally got to try this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday after a morning OMSI adventure. There was plenty of street parking on the side street and the place was easy to find from the outside sign. Walking in, the restaurant was open, clean, and we were greeted right away to be seated. Now listen, the food here actually exceeded my expectations! One taste of the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup and I knew this place is the real deal. The tea egg inside was a nice touch and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The pan fried pork dumplings were crispy on the bottom but soft a chewy in the best way with a juicy porky filling. The stir fried Chinese broccoli (aka gailan) was cooked just right with a snap in each bite, covered in oyster sauce. Now I will say the jianbing was what sealed the deal for me. It looked and tasted just like what I had growing up in Beijing and it was super nostalgic for me. Especially after trying this dish at many other places I've always been disappointed in the past. Although I will say the peanuts inside were not typical for me but it added a nice crunch. You can also add pork or beef to it too but I've decided to keep it classic. The only reason it's not a 5-star rating for me is the confusion with the self-order kiosk. Not in the sense that it's confusing to order, because it's not- I found it super helpful to see the prices and the pictures when ordering, but it made service confusing between being seated, getting food delivered to the table, but then it's also more self-service where you can also get extra bowls and sauces on your own. The servers were very friendly but I guess I just don't understand the one self-order kiosk concept. Anyway, overall I really enjoyed my meal here and plan to be back to try their XiaoLongBao soup dumplings and maybe one of their comforting congee! ”

“ Ate here for Christmas Eve. Food was delicious and hit the spot. Ordered beef brisket soup which was great, scallion pancakes, soup dumplings and Chinese style dumplings. ”

“ I was craving some noodle soup and I'm so happy I ended up here. The beef brisket noodle soup is a must-have - I easily drank up the whole broth, the beef pieces were really tender and I loved the chewy and thick noodles. I can't wait to come back and try their other items especially the dim sum! The restaurant itself was very quaint and I liked the desk facing the window to get some natural light. The service was really friendly and quick! ”

“ Master Kong was a very welcoming and comfortable chill restaurant space for my partner and I when we dined here. We were able to take our time ordering off the kiosk menu (as there was nobody behind us) and decided to go for the Mustard Pork Noodle Soup and the Roasted Beef Noodles and the Fried Mini Buns. They had self service plates, bowls, silverware, water, and even free tea! We definitely loved this perk. We sat down and were graciously served our food. Both dishes were exactly what my partner and I were craving! The Mustard Pork Noodle Soup was creamy the pork was very flavorful! The Roasted Beef Noodles had such a depth flavor to it to the broth and the beef itself was also so delicious and flavorful. The Mini Fried Buns will always be a hit with us as long as the condensed milk ratio is sufficient and it is cooked throughout, and Master Kong didn't disappoint with either. The service at Master Kong immediately uplifted our spirits from the moment we walked through the door. The flavors of their food followed suit and we are excited to visit again! ”

“ The fact we have another congee establishment is dynamite! It's the Asian chicken soup when one is under the weather. On this particular take-out order, I'm gonna have to say the congee was a hair salty but the proteins were plentiful and the rice porridge had a velvet consistency I was hoping for. I also enjoyed the roasted beef noodles and would come back for that too. Plenty of soft beef chunks with a rich spicy broth. The steam buns were nice but lacked much flavor in the ground meats. Thankfully, some of the accompanying sauces with my order, helped with that. All in all a place I would return to again to give it another try. ”

“ I've only ever been to the Master Kong on Division (and have gotten take-out countless times), so I really wanted to give this new location a try! Located on right on Hawthorne, this place is the perfect place to find some comforting food. This location is the newer of the two Master Kongs and you can tell when you walk in. The restaurant is more spacious, with higher ceilings, has a neat light-up logo that shines on the floor as you enters, and a big kiosk for you to order. My boyfriend and I came one morning to find a cure to our hangover and this was the perfect spot. They have so many comforting foods from noodles to congee to dumplings. We ordered the chicken congee, the xiao long bao, and the wonton soup at the kiosk. After ordering, we chose our own table to sit at and staff brought out our food. Service was kind and very fast. Everything was delicious and I would say that the quality at both restaurants are pretty similar (and from what I remember, their menus are identical). Consistent quality and amazing food. Highly recommend. ”
